Lookie What We Made

Remember these? Tuesday morning, I spent my day helping make 40 of these beauties! Mandee and I are the Co-Vice Presidents on the PTO at our school. My friend Shelley wanted to make make these and practice on a few other cookies, so we figured, if were making a few, we may as well make 40!! So we had 4 of us working on these and it took us 2 and 1/2 hours, minus the baking time. Shelley cooked them the night before.
We used a egg to cut out the cookie shape and it was a bit smaller than the one on Bake It at 350. So we didn't have enough room to write popcorn on them. But they turned out way cute anyway.
I had never made royal icing, used meringue powder or floated icing. It was a whole new experience, but very fun! I think we will be dabbling in cookie decorating a bit more. Shelley and I are going to make darling graduation hats for our preschool kids at school. I'll post pictures of those when we get to that. In all our free time, ya know :).

Then the 4 of us met at the school this morning and handed these out to all the teachers and staff. Everyone loved them! Super cute idea. Thanks for Bake It at 350 for the idea!

Teacher Appreciation Week Gifts and Ideas

The first full week of May is Teacher Appreciation Week! Teacher appreciation day is May 4th. I don't think that limiting your appreciation should be stopped at teachers, but should include the faculty at the school. The principal, the office ladies, the school counselor! Anyone who helps to ensure that your child has a healthy educational experience. That doesn't mean go crazy! Here are some fun, easy and cheap ideas I've gathered for this years appreciation week!
Sometimes it's as simple as writing a heart felt, thank you note! I know that when I feel appreciatied, it makes a big difference in my day. Cottage Industrialist has this cute and free printable apple card available on their site. Print this off, add a little note and maybe a gift card to Barnes and Noble.

No Fuss Fabulous, had this great idea! Make a pencil bouquet and give this cute and free printable card to your teacher! They also have a darling, Smore basket with a free down loadable card! Darling stuff!

Parties by Hardie has this cute little wreath and a few other great ideas!

Skip to My Lou has a huge list, of easy things that you could throw together this weekend. Also in this post, you can find some fun printable ideas. I love free printables. Always makes things so much easier!

How Does She has a great little list, with a free printable card.

Tip Junkie, has a big list of teacher gifts. And these right here, are what I will be doing for my teachers and administrators! Go check out this post, from Eighteen25, (which is my new favorite blog, by the way) and get some easy, easy ideas that you can put together this weekend and that won't cost you a fortune! I love these, because you could use them for a huge variety of events. For primary teachers, for visiting-teachers and friends. You name it. Lot's of great ideas!

Teacher Appreciation Gift

Posted by Picasa
This is one of my favorite weeks of the school year. Especially when you love your childs teacher. I love the younger grades, the kids are so excited to make things for their teachers. My older son just wants to buy his teacher things. My first grade daughter and I made this pencil holder for her teacher. I took an empty baking powder can and modgepodged cute paper on to it. Then I found a picture I had taken of the two of them together and put that on with some more modge podge. I let BayLee put what stickers she wanted on it. On the front we put "BayLee" and on the back we put "Mrs. Murphy Rocks". Way fun and turned out really cute.

Our Favorite LDS websites

***The Enrichment Cottage Link works now***

I love the Internet. I love blogging, because it is an outlet to the outside world. I also love that it allows women the opportunity to connect across oceans and continents. I love that we are able to share ideas on being mothers and life lessons!

While these websites are aimed at those of us, who share the LDS faith, they are full of great ideas on teaching Christian based values, such as friendship, respect, kindness and just about anything else that you could think of. Mandee and I wanted to share a few of our favorites. You can click on any of the buttons, to link directly to the sight!

If you don't know about Sugardoodle, I must ask, where have you been hiding? I visit Sugardoodle every day! I am in the Young Women's in our ward and I use it constantly for that and I also use if for primary talks, family home evenings, visiting teaching handouts, you name it. What an awesome sight!!

Family Home Evening in a Snap is a new find and one that is full of great ideas for family home evening. It's like your part of a FHE group, but all the work is done for you. We did an awesome FHE on Testimony last night that we got from this sight! It's definitely one to check out.

Chocolate on my Cranium is a great place to find, FHE ideas.

Overheard In The Ward
Laugh out loud, pee your pants kind of funny!! We are a peculiar people, aren't we?? But it makes life interesting!

Ah Stephanie and Courtney! For some reason, I can't get Courtney's button to work, so you'll just have to click on her name. I love these two ladies. They inspire me and make me laugh. I wish they were my neighbors!

Just Around This Corner, Laurel Christensen is AWESOME! She inspires me, makes me laugh and just a great read! Check her out!

There are so many websites, that it would be hard to name them all! Here are a few more that we visit on a regular basis to get ideas for callings, for FHE, and so much more!

Bemboszoo and Bubble Wrap

What a fun sight! I found this over at I Never Grew Up. I am doing this for Tyson today. It's a sight that has the whole alphabet listed. When you click on a letter it names an animal word to go a long with it. Then the letters morph into a picture of the animal. Amazing! I had a lot of fun playing on it and I am an adult. Check it out here!

Okay, I had to come back and add one more link. I have been trying to teach Tyson, who is 3 how to use a mouse on a computer. Bemboszoo is awesome! We have done that today for quite a while, but here is one I completely forgot about. Check out this Bubble Wrap Page. What kid doesn't like popping bubble wrap? Tyson did this today for about 30 minutes and he was giggling and every time he would pop one he would say, Spiderman, Peter Parker, Venom, Cops, Tyson and lot's of other random words. So cute and so much fun. How boring would life be if we didn't have our amazing kids?
