Hamburger Rolls

These were one of my favorite things that we used to eat at school lunch when I was in high school. Good ole' Piute High! Definitely a comfort food.

Hamburger Rolls

Use this roll recipe to make your dough. You can use any roll recipe that you have. This is just the one that I use and love. TRIED AND TRUE!

Brown 1 lb. of hamburger. Season it with dried onions, salt, pepper, cilantro, whatever floats your boat. Drain your hamburger and add 2 cups of cheese to it. Mix well.

Roll the dough out 1/2 inch thick. Sprinkle with hamburger mixture. Roll up and cut the dough just as you would cinnamon rolls. About 1 inch thick slices. Place in greased 13x9 pan. I had some left over meat, so I sprinkled it on the top of the buns. Let rise for about 20 minutes. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.

You can serve this with a cream sauce, cream of mushroom soup or brown gravy. My family prefers the brown gravy.

You can do many variations of this recipe. You could do different combinations on the filling. I know people who do tuna as the filling. Blah! But my husband and I were discussing this and we think shredded chicken and cheese would be great also, served with chicken gravy.

This is so funny because this winter I called my mom to get this recipe because I wanted them so bad. I loved all of the homemade food at school lunch! Didn't we call them pinwheels? I think I may have to make them next week now.
